In Acts 1 Jesus tells the apostles to wait for the promised Holy Spirit from God. Once it comes they/we are to become witnesses (Acts 1:8). In this sense it seems that there is to be no more waiting. The Spirit came, the Spirit empowered, the people of God witness. Seems like a simple plan doesn’t it?

I listen to people today talk about “waiting for God’s leading…” “waiting for direction from the Spirit…” or “looking for the guiding of the Spirit…” Seems like people talk alot about waiting, but the Spirit is already here, already working, and, in a sense, waiting for us to catch up.

This point was driven home to me today. I would say that God thumped, prodded, and worked on me in a typical way.
