Northwest Conference Against Trafficking

Saturday, January 9, 2010
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Red Lion Hotel at Jantzen Beach, 909 North Hayden Island Dr., Portland, OR 97217

Human trafficking is a form of modern slavery. The second largest criminal enterprise in the world after arms dealing, victims of human trafficking work in domestic servitude, agriculture and – all too often – the sex industry. Sponsors and Community Partners include City Club of Portland, OATH (Oregonians Against Trafficking Humans), OHTTF (Oregon Human Trafficking Task Force), Bureau of Labor and Industries, Soroptimists, Multnomah County, Portland Police, Commissioner Dianne McKeel’s Office, Commissioner Dan Saltzman’s Office, Bill Hillar Training, Alaska Airlines, Red Lion Hotels, AmberAlert, Helping Heroes, and more!

Senator Ron Wyden will open the conference at 9AM.  Come at 8AM to check in at registration and check out our exhibitors.

Luncheon speakers include:

- Special Forces Colonel Dr. Bill Hillar – professor and trainer.  The movie “Taken” was inspired by his personal story.

- Dallas Jessup from CNN’s “Just Yell Fire”

- Cathy Standiford, President of Soroptimists of the Americas.

Morning Break-out sessions include speakers such as Dr. Cyndi Romine, founder of Compassion 2One; Detective Keith Bickford, Director of the Oregon Human Trafficking Task Force,  Detectives Doug Justus and Meagan Burkeen, Portland Police Vice Unit, and Chris Killmer, Director OSSIP of Catholic Charities.   You can also received personal strength training from the Portland Police.

If your organization would like to have a table at the conference in our exhibit area, please complete the form on the website.  Costs for exhibits is $30 per person, with up to two people allowed per table.  That cost covers the lunch, which of course, you are invited to attend. (And listen to the great speakers.)  Registration for exhibits will end soon.

High School and College students are also eligible for the $30 fee, rather than the $50 fee.  Please contact me if you are an interested student.  (Regarding the $50 fee, the part that is over our actual costs will be a donation to a 501-C and will go towards a shelter in our area for trafficking victims.)  More Details can be found on our website: www.NWCAT.org.  REGISTRATION is NOW OPEN.
